the adventure continues.

A place to share my the most recent adventures and travel stories

never stop exploring, and never stop creating.

I travel with the purpose of experiencing other cultures, creating new stories, and seeing how to convey both through photography. This page is dedicated to whatever newness I’ve discovered or documented. From time to time I’ll also update with a past adventure or two.

See if you can keep up with me on my IG @followthepeter.

overnight stay at Mcneil point

McNeil Point has long been a favorite of mine to visit on Mt. Hood near Portland, OR but I’ve never actually camped up there among the junipers and stone shelter.

I found a weather window that would do nicely for me and wanted to explore what I could do with my new floating hammock tent. After finding an amazing space with an incredible panoramic view of the valley and the 11,250ft peak of the sleeping volcano, I set up my camp grabbed my cameras and went to work.

I couldn’t have asked for a better overall stay at my one-night home. The lows that night were warm enough that the rain fly was unnecessary so I could stare at the stars all night while my camera worked on a star streaked photograph.

It can be lonely up there all by yourself but if Covid is going to create a lonely life for me anyway then I might as well take that loneliness to a place where I can mostly ignore it.

Below are selection of photographs from that trip. I’m looking forward to experiencing this site again but my plans for now are to try to visit Hidden Lake Lookout or the Boston Basin next in the North Cascades. Let me know if you want to join.
