snKR POSTERS: ADIDAS

ILLUSTRATING SOME OF MY FAVORITE FOOTWEAR.

Illustration, documentation, and communication of my sneaker work is a common theme in my ‘create just for me’ time.

It would be easy to ask why I created an image for a random pack of UB5.0s when it would likely be profitable for me to be creating Jordan, Airmax, Shell Toes, or AF1s. But I haven’t worked on those models, and so they mean very little to me on a personal level. The images below are a matter of happenstance, really. They mean that those shoes are what I was fond of at a moment when I had the time, energy and desire to create.

Images should mean something even if just to those who create them. It gives the work a soul and the time spent working on them a purpose. They communicate work that I was so proud to be a part of that I felt I should document it as a celebration of achievement. And they make good gifts to the teams of people who work on these shoes with me as well.

But really, at the end of the day, I make these for me.

pdx running creation: fw20

I was asked to create a “family tree” for one of the top selling models the PDX team had designed: The AlphaBounce to the AlphaTorsion. So I did, and then that project spiraled and before I knew it I had created a yearbook of the entire Fall/Winter 2020 season. Below are a small selection of pages from the book.

FW20 was probably the hardest hit time for footwear during Covid. This book feels almost like a tribute to the sneaks that just never stood a chance. But still, UB1.0 NCAA pack came out that season which exceeded all forecasts and set several new sales records.
